January IEE Workshop: Rethinking Employee Benefits for Inclusive Workplaces
Hosted by Khadamat Facilities Management
In January 2026, we were pleased to deliver the first Inclusive Employment Ecosystem (IEE) workshop of the year, generously hosted by Khadamat Facilities Management. The session brought together HR leaders, benefits specialists, and inclusion champions to explore how employee benefits can evolve beyond compliance to become a strategic driver of inclusion, retention, wellbeing, and organisational performance.
Following updates from The Butterfly on upcoming IEE initiatives, the discussion focused on aligning benefits design with the diverse needs of today’s workforce, particularly People of Determination and caregivers. Participants examined practical case examples, regulatory considerations, and global best practices, highlighting how thoughtful benefit frameworks can strengthen employee engagement and ESG outcomes.
A special note of appreciation to Sheikh Zayed bin Mansour Al Nahyan for joining us and contributing to a constructive and meaningful dialogue. His presence and insights added valuable perspective to the conversation.
The workshop was attended by IEE member organisations and invited guests, including Serco Middle East, e&, Dubai Islamic Bank, Abu Dhabi Airports, AtkinsRéalis, Siemens Energy, M42, Fassco, University of Wollongong Dubai, Khadamat, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society UAE, Kent, Aldar and others.

Advancing Neurodiversity: International Conference Participation
This month, The Butterfly had the privilege of participating in the International Neurodiversity Conference 2026, organised by our Community Partners, Neurokinds. The conference convened global experts, policymakers, employers, and advocates committed to advancing neuro-inclusive societies and workplaces, offering valuable dialogue, shared learning, and cross-sector collaboration.
The conference provided valuable insights into emerging research, inclusive recruitment models, workplace adjustments, and leadership strategies that support neurodivergent talent. Sessions highlighted the growing business case for neurodiversity, the importance of early intervention and education, and the role of employers in creating psychologically safe and flexible work environments.
Our participation reinforced the importance of aligning regional practices with international standards and strengthened our commitment to embedding neurodiversity within our Inclusive Employment Ecosystem. We look forward to translating these learnings into practical guidance and programmes for our partners across the UAE.

Advocacy: Parent Support Meetings – January Community Sessions
Supporting families continues to be a cornerstone of The Butterfly’s mission. Throughout January, we hosted a series of Parent Support Meetings designed to provide guidance, shared learning, and a safe space for families raising children who are People of Determination.
The month included three focused sessions:
Understanding Autism Beyond Labels : Led by inclusion specialist Abisola Mary, this session encouraged parents to look beyond diagnostic terminology and better understand the individual strengths, needs, and potential of children on the autism spectrum. The discussion emphasized acceptance, personalized support, and positive identity building.
From Playtime to Growth Time: Choosing the Right Toys for Your Child: This interactive session by Neethu Anna, Co-founder of Pebbiez, explored how purposeful play supports cognitive, emotional, and motor development. Parents received practical guidance on selecting age-appropriate and developmentally supportive toys that encourage learning, communication, and independence.
Understanding Challenging Behaviors: From Development to Management: his informative session examined how challenging behaviors typically develop across early childhood and beyond. The session was facilitated by Robin Vergara, Behavior Analyst at Able UK, and delivered practical, evidence-based insights into identifying underlying behavioural triggers and applying effective behaviour management strategies to support positive development and improved daily functioning.
A Safe Place for Parents: Let’s Talk: The session by Marilena di Coste reinforced the value of peer connection, emotional wellbeing, and collective problem-solving.
These sessions once again highlighted the importance of community-driven advocacy and compassionate spaces that empower families and strengthen outcomes for People of Determination.
