Kicking Off 2025 with a Focus on Inclusive Recruitment

As the Inclusive Employment Ecosystem (IEE) approaches its third anniversary, it continues to thrive, transforming from a small yet determined company with a bold vision into a dynamic network championing inclusion, a field often overlooked. It was then appropriate that the first IEE session of the year was hosted by Siemens Energy on January 16, 2025. Siemens Energy, the first company to join the IEE, has played a pivotal role in driving its mission forward.

This session focused on the theme of recruitment, revisiting and building upon last year’s discussions about strategy and policies. Specifically, it delved into the critical yet often undervalued topic of job descriptions. Participants explored how traditional job descriptions can unintentionally perpetuate discrimination and create barriers for candidates. Through engaging activities and eye-opening discussions, attendees examined ways to make job descriptions more inclusive, equitable, and aligned with diverse workforce needs.

In addition to these activities, the session welcomed representatives from universities across the UAE, namely the University of Wollongong in Dubai, Middlesex University Dubai and The American University of Dubai. This collaboration fostered vibrant, rapid-fire discussions about bridging the gap between education and industry. Topics such as vocational pathways that bypass rigid educational requirements took center stage, offering new perspectives on creating opportunities for all.

As we embark on another year of advancing inclusion in employment, the IEE remains committed to addressing the many facets of workforce inclusion. We look forward to deepening these critical conversations and driving meaningful change.
